Dis_placed' is a 3D fashion collection by Giancarlo Pazzanese that transits the borders between clothing and object, texture and noise, real and virtual. Composed by 5 looks, these digital garments exist only in virtual form. They are designed to be seen and worn in the metaverse. The design phase incorporated errors as a possibility to explore and 'explode' texture maps to create new materialities. Misuse of the 3d software generates non-existing fabrics: lace that looks like bone structures, floating prints, or virtual spikes. Inspired by punk, fetish, and goth aesthetics, the idea of a misplaced print evolved beyond the fabric proposals and into the construction of displaced identities raising questions on gender, taste, alter egos, and wearability in the digital sphere.
